SUMMARY: Stanley adds a new flashlight to its illumination
tool line with the introduction of the STANLEY® MaxLife™
369™ Tripod LED flashlight. With its innovative tripod
design, this new light provides a hands-free option with just
the push of a button. The new flashlight also incorporates
an articulating head which allows the user to aim a focused
beam of light where it is needed. Like its first cousin, the
MaxLife™ 369™, the new tripod design flashlight
is capable of generating more than 200 hours of continuous
light. Utilizing parallel energy cell technology, in conjunction
with six bright-white, solid-state LEDs, the MaxLife™
369™ Tripod won’t leave you in the dark. Traditional
incandescent flashlights could consume as many as 10 sets
of batteries before the new MaxLife™ 369™ Tripod
flashlight would require new batteries. Weather-resistant
and durable, this flashlight incorporates anodized aluminum
space frame construction with a graphite/ABS composite head.
NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut, July 21, 2005
– Stanley (NYSE: SWK) continues to grow its illumination
tool line with the addition of the STANLEY® MaxLife™
369™ Tripod LED flashlight. The light combines emerging
LED technology with an innovative tripod design that provides
the option of hands-free operation. The MaxLife™ 369™
Tripod flashlight makes tough jobs easier especially in hard
to reach areas where the tool’s hands-free design and
articulating head allow the user to focus light where it’s
needed. Generating more than 200 hours of continuous run-time
when loaded with a full complement of batteries, and unlike
other flashlights on the market, the MaxLife™ 369™
Tripod LED flashlight incorporates parallel energy cell technology.
“Parallel energy cell technology refers to the manner
in which each aluminum cell or battery compartment operates
in conjunction with the electronic circuitry in the light,”
said Randy Marzicola, product marketing manager for STANLEY®
Illumination Tools. “The circuitry controls the flow
of the current, maximizing the load to the system receiving
the energy; in this case the LEDs.”
In most traditional flashlights, if one battery has low voltage,
it can draw energy from the other batteries, and the overall
performance of the product will suffer. Parallel energy cell
technology controls the flow of the current between the aluminum
cells to maximize run-time performance.
As an added benefit, end users can regulate the amount of
run-time they require. For example, in preparation for an
emergency, a user could maximize run-time capacity by loading
each aluminum cell; totaling 9 AA batteries (3 per leg cell).
However, if a user had only 3 AA batteries, they could operate
the light with the same intensity as if all 9 batteries were
used, while still providing almost 75 hours of run-time.
The STANLEY® MaxLife™ 369™ Tripod LED flashlight
brings distinctive new innovative design and optimal durability
driven by its unique structure and functions. The flashlight
incorporates six bright-white, solid-state LEDs behind a shatter-resistant,
pre-focused polycarbonate lens capable of withstanding severe
impact. A four-position switch controls the amount of light
generated (High/Medium/Low/Off) and a blinking red low-power
indicator light automatically activates a warning to let the
user know the batteries need to be replaced.
“The STANLEY® MaxLife™ 369 Tripod flashlight
offers new innovation to a category that has seen limited
progress in recent times,” said Gary van Deursen, vice
president innovation and design for The Stanley Works. “The
tripod stand featured in this product frees up the users hands
to conveniently access hard to reach areas which comes in
handy in emergencies such as changing a flat tire or adjusting
leaky pipes under the sink.”
The suggested retail price for the Stanley MaxLife™
369™ Tripod LED flashlight is $34.99.
Both lights will be available at hardware stores and home
centers wherever Stanley® products are sold. For more
